Reverend Percy Scott Smallfield was a respected teacher who started teaching for the Auckland Board of Education which would lead to headmaster of Mt Eden district school and an Anglican Priest who served as curate at Bombay, Ellerslie, Epsom and Mt Roskill. Percy was involved at St Johns College becoming headmaster in 1891 and later a tutor at the St Johns Theological College.
