Thomas Buddle was a founding partner of the law firm Buddle, Button and Co in Auckland. He was born in the city in 1847, the second son of the Reverend Buddle, an early Methodist missionary.
At the time of his death in 1918, he was aged 71 years and was a senior partner in the firm, which was the oldest established law firm in Auckland. He was a director of many companies including the New Zealand Insurance Company, Auckland Gas Company and the Colonial Sugar Refining Company. He was a strong supporter of the YMCA and a prominent official in the Methodist Church.
