James Charles Robertson Bellwood was an esteemed labourer, physical education instructor, sports coach and POW veteran. Early in life James trained as a fitter and turner while also working various odd jobs however it was his enlistment in world war two and experience as a POW for three years that formed his resolve in life “to helping to guide the surplus energy of youth into more healthy outlets”. During his most active years of personal coaching James’s athletes won one Olympic, six British Empire and Commonwealth and over 200 national gold medals.
