Frank Langstone was member of the New Zealand Parliament serving as Minister of Lands, Native Minister and Minister of External Affairs and also as High Commissioner to Canada. In 1916, he became a foundation member of the newly formed Labour Party.
Young Frank came into politics through his work as a shearer and involvement with the New Zealand Shearers’ Union. In 19222 he successfully one his first Parliamentary election, representing Waimarino. Langstone was President of the New Zealand Labour Party from 1933 to 1934. In 1935, he was awarded the King George V Silver Jubilee Medal.
He was widely regarded as the leading figure of Labour Party’s radical wing.
